Tifa ffVII 10th anniversary

I didn't want to post until it was official...but I got my PM from Lady V this morning:

Full Circle has been nominated for Best Het Romance at the Genesis Awards! Thanks so much to

[info]abrogate_nadir

for the nom! I'm sort of in a panic over it now, but I will do my best to make sure the last chapters are good enough to put in a good showing. Must. Get. Beta. Pronto.

No thanks needed, ma'am. Just doing my part for great justice!!!!!!!

I haven't looked at your competition yet. What do you think of the other nominees?

Hehe, one of the other authors has posted a comment right above yours, you know...(^_~)

Why don't you give them a read? You can discuss them at the Nominations discussion section of GA, if you are willing to brave the snark filled waters there again. (That was not a typo.) I've read only a few chapters of "Embitterment," but it is really good. And knightlineninja's entry is a good oneshot.

o rly? ^.^

I haven't finished reading the non-oneshots, but I'm far enough in to have first impressions of the other entries. Eheh...but I'm not sure I wanna discuss my thoughts there.

I think of the three other fics, Embitterment is my favorite.

The first one, I can't recall it's name at the moment...it started off pretty well, but now and then it had some confusing paragraphs (sometimes even approaching purple) which seemed to be a result of the authoress trying to sound poetic. Even if the narration, exposition, etc etc were a little more detailed , Embitterment just seemed to read better to me.

Of course, I've only read a few chapters for each and I know that in long chaptered works, some people can make huge leaps in skill between the earlier and later parts.

It's an award forum/contest for excellent FFVII fanfiction. If you know any other good fics, nominations are open now. You should really check out the winners and noms from last year as well. They are really good reading. You know how sometimes fics can be half-assed efforts? Some of the stuff out there can barely be considered English. And others are Mary Sue dominated or unoriginal. Well, the winners have been through the filter of a rather demanding panel of judges.
This year's nominations have to go through the extra filter of a Preliminary Reader before their nomination even sticks. So it's rather an honour to even get on the list.
You should go check it out. I hang out on the forum a lot because I'm a PR. But it's all right to lurk and just find stuff to read too!

Wow that sounds kewl. A good place to find good reads too. I was looking on fanfiction for CloTi and like a gazillion pages popped up and I said to myself "OMG now I know why I don't read CLoTI that often because there's so many!". It makes it hard to pick the good from the bad, that's when summaries and titles become important.

Yes- I know all too well of the authors with their half assed efforts. "Hi guys, this is my first fanfiction and um please review" and then they misspell everything, forget capitalization, periods, and write the good ole' boy meets girl make out or funny funny scene... so sad.

Yeah so I'll go check it out. There it would be easier to find good reads since they're nominations and are being judged without mercy. :D

I never click on a story with spelling errors in the summary or title. Or LOL. Or the word "Randomness."

Call me judgemental, but if it looks like !!!1!1!, and sounds like TODAL AWSUMNESS, I'm probably not going to enjoy it anyway.

I don't click on stories with misspelled words in the summary and title either lol. I just had a friend post something up and I told her "first impressions are everything" because a little period here or comma here makes all the difference, and she posted it up anyway. A vague review without the pairing stated and no period, mistakes in the story and while the story itself is really good, it doesn't shine with the way she presents it so carelessly. So, she has 2 reviews, including mine... I also notice sometimes a little change in summary does a lot, so lately I've been looking into stories of mine where I'd like more reviewers and making the summary more enticing- and it works. Gotta catch the reader's attention, especially when they're looking on a page full of other stories, what's going to make them click on yours?

TODAL AWSUMNESS! That's so funny. Or when they admit in the summary "I'm no good at summareez! Just read!" and I'm thinking, nope, readers are not "just gonna read" and not everyone has fast connections so who wants to waste time loading a story that might be junk? XD

Seriously- if they can't write two proper sentences, then why should the reader trust that they can write something longer with any more finesse?

Actually, this conversation is totally like the Pet Peeves thread in GA. You should go check it out!
