Yeah, that whole loooong beginning labor is why I asked my doctor to put me on pitocin to speed things up with Anakin. O_O I'd only been having regular contractions for about twelve hours--they told me my contractions were every eight minutes, but I didn't want it to go so slowly, LOL. I totally understand where you're coming from.
I don't know what your hospital's policies are like, but just make sure you DRINK WATER if you're thirsty before you actually go into the hospital. I know when I was in labor, they wouldn't let me have anything to drink (something about people throwing up?). It may have been because I had an IV and was on pitocin, or it may have just been in general; I don't remember. I do remember that I was SO THIRSTY and they'd only let me suck on ice chips or a popsicle.
